The Julie Cotton Foundation
<<< Take me to BATTLE OF THE BANDS
<<< Take me to THE CONCERT FOR LIFE
Welcome to the Julie Cotton Foundation.
The foundation was set up by Julie's husband Mark to continue the work that Julie had devoted herself to prior to losing her battle against cancer in November 2001
Julie had been an avid fundraiser for cancer research and had, on one occasion, participated in a 2 year cycle ride across Europe and Pakistan. This raised sufficient funds to aid the construction of the Lindsey Lodge Hospice in Scunthorpe
"One thing that inspired me to set up the foundation was the knowledge that I was not the only person who felt as I do. Offers of financial and practical help have been overwhelming, but it needed to be channelled to the people who need it most. Your help can make a difference." Mark Cotton
Because of Julie's passion for music, Mark decided that the Foundation should continue to honour her memory in this way - through live music events and music education. Our links with leading music industry professionals and companies have grown considerably in the last few years. This has allowed JCF to offer students in Nottingham unique opportunities to work within these organisations.
We are currently planning some exciting events and projects for the future.
The JCF has given families affected by Cancer the opportunity to experience VIP style events at Nottinghams Rock City along side their favourite stars and continue to offer the next generation of music and media talent unique and exciting opportunities.
This years annual fundraiser takes place at Rock City on Sunday, April 4th 2010.
Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies is a unique educational establishment; a custom-designed facility, in Nottingham, which houses a progressive learning institute alongside commercial recording studios and pre and post production film and television companies.

The Julie Cotton Foundation is raising money all year round for the various charities it supports. Whilst there are the big, media-grabbing events such as the Rock City events, there are many other smaller efforts by normal people and members of the emergency services that often go unheard of.
Much of the time it is these events that make up the largest share of the year's total and we cannot thank these people enough. Without the hard work and generosity of these people, many causes would cease to be able to do the excellent work where charitable donation is either the majority of, or the ONLY funding.
CLIC Sargent
This year, the JCF are teaming up once again with CLIC Sargent in order to raise funds for Billy's Appeal.
Even though the doors are now open to Billys House, the East Midlands first Home from Home for families of children with cancer, it requires continual support in order that families can to stay together when the unimaginable happens and a child is diagnosed with cancer.
Currently there are close to 200 children and young people with cancer, from across the East Midlands, supported by the CLIC Sargent Care Team at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. With Billys House now open just across the road from the hospital, families wont have to make the long journeys to and from the hospital when their child is having treatment.
Billys House is named after cancer survivor and Derbyshire schoolboy Billy Greenall. It is thanks to the incredible hard work of Billys mum Laura Greenall that Billys Appeal has now raised over £2 million enabling CLIC Sargent to open its eighth Home from Home in the UK.
Every day 10 families are told their child has cancer. As the UK's leading children's cancer charity, CLIC Sargent is the only organisation to offer them all round care and support. Thats because were there every step of the way:
During treatment - providing specialist nurses, play specialists, Homes from Home
In hospital & at home - offering specialist social care and support in the community services for young people, holidays, grants, helpline
After treatment - helping survivors, supporting those bereaved
