Leukaemia Research is a Registered charity No:216032
The Irish Centre provided stunning catering for all the artists and crew on the day as well as assistance and support from the start.
TrentFM and most especially Mark Dennison played a big part in publicising the event. Mark, in conjunction with Nottingham Forest FC, advertised the event during Forest home game half time shows.

A Concert For Liam

Update and some big Thank Yous
Nottingham Forest FC were amazing in their support of Liam throughout his illness and were instantly behind us as soon as they knew the event was taking place. They advertised the event at home matches and were one of our major ticket outlets.
The Evening Post followed Liam through his battle and were instrunmental in keeping people aware of his progress. They have always been sympathetic and kept news of the concert in people's minds throughout the planning stages
Arqiva provided the outside broadcast unit, including personel, for free in order to film the entire concert for the audience screens, the bands' own personal memento and most importantly the footage for the DVD that will be released as soon as we can. The camerawork alone was amazing, but the teamwork and skill involved in putting everything together was inspiring.

This year's event in aid of
Easter Sunday 23rd March 2008

Below are just a few of the people and companies who have offered and provided help and support to us from the very start, right through to, and beyond the event. There are many more to add so please keep visiting to see who has been involved.

This year's Julie Cotton Foundation Rock City event in memory of Liam Doherty began as an idea to run another event similar to the one we presented in 2004 raising money for cancer charities. With the loss of Liam we decided to change the focus for this year. In the early stages we hope that we would match the pre-sales total from the last event but it quickly became evident that this was a vast underestimate.

As we went through the organisational process, the depth of feeling we encountered from everywhere about Leukaemia and Liam's story was almost overwhelming. Everyone knows someone who has been affected in some way by Leukaemia and Liam's story was followed by many people. We had some massive support from a number of organisations which allowed us to do something extraordinary.

On the day we discovered that the ticket sales had been far above what we expected. An hour before the doors even opened we were told that out of a total of 1900 tickets available, there were only 152 left to sell once the doors opened! You can imagine that this provoked some emotion in all concerned. It meant that an awful lot of people were touched by the reason for the event and the charity we were supporting. To each and every person who bought a ticket, donated or helped in any way we would like to offer our most heartfelt thanks. Without you we would have had a cosy little gig for some friends - WITH you we had a record-breaking, roof-raising, tear-provoking and above all, ENORMOUSLY succesful concert.
